HOW TO SELL

General Instructions for Consignors

  1. New and Returning Consignors-you will need to register as a new consignor. Returning consignors, that DID NOT register for the Fall 2011 sale-register as a new consignor and you can request your old consignor number when registering.
  2. There are 10 tags per sheet. You will have to print a full page of each dollar increment you need (if you only need 1 tag of $40, you can print one, however, the rest of the sheet will be blank). You will only get one tag.
  3. Blank tags cannot be printed-it has to at least have the dollar amount, which cannot be crossed out and changed with pen.
  4. Still use color card stock if you want your items returned. Use red, green or black ink to show discounts.
  5. There is a limit of 100 hanging items and 5 pairs of shoes. We discourage inexpensive Wal-Mart and KMart brands. Hanging clothes should be priced at $2 minimum.
  6. Baby sizes are hard to sell, so bring your best.
  7. Condition of your clothes is important. Make sure your clothes are current styles and are clean and ironed with no stains, holes, or tears. Examine each item as if you were considering buying it. We will remove items which do not meet these standards.
  8. Clear packaging is useful to keep things clean, ex. blankets and stuffed animals. If there are multiple pieces, use a zip lock bag and tape the top closed to discourage the package being opened and losing the pieces. Toys are especially vulnerable.
  9. Board games/Puzzles/Books should be sealed with masking tape or blue painter's tape (not package tape, which tears the box) with a note on the front indicating that all pieces are included.
  10. On all non-hanging items, such as baby equipment and large toys, use cable ties if possible to attache tag if not, attach with a piece of tape with name, selling number, and price. This is in addition to the printed tag. This provides a backup in case the printed tag is lost.
  11. Bring clothes on hangers with the hook pointing left as you face the garment (no store lingerie hangers). Use baby hangers through size 4, adult hangers for size five and up.
  12. Hang all pants by the waist with the front showing. Use a pant hanger or use safety pins/cable ties to attach to the top sides of the hanger so the pants don't slide. Do not fold pants over hangers.
  13. Separate boys' clothes from girls'. Group by sex and then by size. Please keep them organized this way until they are hung in their proper section at the sale.
  14. SIZE THE CLOTHES THE WAY THEY FIT RATHER THAN BY TAG SIZE. Use numerical sizes, not S, M, L, or XL. If a tag has two sizes, such as 4/5, hang it with the lower size. Note that 24 months and 2T are two different sizes, as are 4 and 4T. Group Husky and Half-Sizes separately. Properly sizing clothes is probably the best use of your preparation time. If a garment is hanging in the wrong size, it will not sell, no matter how cute it is.
  15. Shoes: Attach a barcode tag (only one) to each pair. In addition, on the sole (or inside, if tape won't stick to the sole) of EACH shoe, use masking tape to indicate the size, price, and your consignor number. Pin or tie shoes together, if possible. If you choose to bring them in clear plastic bags, make sure all tags are on the shoes and not on the bag.
  16. Socks and tights: We suggest bagging several pairs (same size) in a clear bag and pricing in $1 increments.
