General Instructions for Consignors
- There is a limit of 100 items and 5 pairs of shoes. We discourage
inexpensive Wal-Mart, KMart and Target brands. Hanging clothes should be
priced at $2 minimum.
- We must limit Junior Girls to 25 items. Baby (newborn-12 months) are
limited to 50 items. Junior and baby sizes are hard to sell so bring your
best.
- Condition of your clothes is important. Make sure your clothes are current
styles and are clean and ironed with no stains, holes, or tears. Examine each
item as if you were considering buying it. We will remove items which do not
meet these standards.
- Clear packaging is useful to keep things clean, ex. blankets and stuffed
animals. If there are multiple pieces, wrap the item in clear plastic to
discourage toddlers from opening the package and losing the pieces. Toys are
especially vulnerable.
- Board games/Puzzles should be sealed with masking tape or blue painter's
tape (not package tape, which tears the
box) with a note on the front indicating that all pieces are included.
- *** On all non-hanging items, attach a piece of tape with name, selling
number, and price. This is in addition to the printed tag. This
provides a backup in case the printed tag is lost.
- Bring clothes on hangers with the hook pointing left
as you face the
garment (no store lingerie hangers). Use baby hangers through size 4, adult
hangers for size five and up.
- Hang all pants by the waist with the front showing. Use a pant
hanger or use safety pins to attach to the top sides of the hanger so the
pants don't slide. Do not fold pants over hangers.
- Separate boys' clothes from girls'. Group by sex and them by size. Please
keep them organized this way until they are hung in their proper section at
the sale.
- SIZE THE CLOTHES THE WAY THEY FIT RATHER THAN BY TAG SIZE. Use
numerical sizes, not S, M, L, or XL. If a tag has two sizes, such as 4/5,
hang it with the lower size. Note that 24 months and 2T are two different
sizes, as are 4 and 4T. Group Husky and Half-Sizes separately. Properly sizing clothes is probably the best use of your preparation
time. If a garment is hanging in the wrong size, it will not sell, no matter
how cute it is.
- Shoes: Attach a barcode tag (only one) to each pair. In
addition, on the sole (or inside, if tape won't stick to the sole) of
EACH shoe, use masking tape to indicate the size, price, and your
consignor number. Pin or tie shoes together, if possible. If you choose to
bring them in clear plastic batgs, make sure all tags are on the shoes and not
on the bag.
- Socks and tights: We suggest bagging several pairs (same size) in a
clear bag and pricing in $1 increments.
- *** When you drop off your clothes, you will need to supply an index
card with your name, address, phone number, email address, selling number and
whether you would like your items donated.
Tagging
Getting your Tags
- We use a bar code system for tags. You will print your tags off our
website. Your bar code (which includes your name and consignor number) will be
printed across the botton.
- Consignors on our mailing list should click on the Bar Code link. Then click on your name and click
PRINT to make a sheet of price tags with bar codes.
- Print your tags onto card stock paper not plain paper (it is too thin), or
print an original on plain paper then make copies on card stock.
- New consignors should email NearlyNewCE@yahoo.com, to register for
a consignor number and bar code. Please include the following information:
-
- Name: Last, First, Middle Initial
- Address:
- Phone Number:
- How are you listed in the phone book?
- Email address:
- If you do not have email, call Corinne at 821-7781.
Filling Out Your Tags

- Size: Put the sex and size in the upper right corner. For example: B-2T
(boy 2 Toddler). Remember to use numbers, not S, M, L, or XL.
- Describe the item briefly (ex. Abercrombie navy shorts.
- Two piece outfits: under "Description" write 2
pieces, with a description of each piece.
- The price should be written in the center of the card (large numbers). Use
$1 increments. Do no use the $ sign, just the numerical price. If you
do not want you items to be marked down during the 25%-75%
sales, write the price in RED INK. Items priced
with BLACK INK will be discounted during the 25% and 50% sales
only. Items priced with GREEN INK will be
further discounted to 75% off on the last day.
- We suggest pricing at 1/3 the original price for excellent condition used
clothing. If it's from last season, never worn, you could ask just under half
the original price. Remember to consider both age and condition when pricing.
- Use medium or large safety pins to attach the price tag to the right side
of the garment (as you face it, over the heart). NO STRAIGHT PINS! You
may also use zip ties through a tag or button hole, if you wish.
- If you would like to donate your unsold items, please draw a GREEN stripe down the right side of your ticket with a green
marker.
- Attach the tag to non-hanging items with masking tape (do not cover the
entire tag with clear package tape - it's impossible to remove without
damaging the item and the ticket). Attaching the tags with zip ties or safety
pins is preferable for hats, ties, bags, etc. Don't forget the "back-up"
masking tape label.
